Reblogged from Ian Vincent:

When I read the Book of Revelation I see that after the gospel has been preached to every tribe, tongue and nation then God will take over the "preaching", He will speak from Heaven by shaking the foundations of the earth to its very core, and men will hide themselves in caves bcos they know who is speaking from Heaven. God will have the last word.

A companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth

Proverbs 29:3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

Jesus Christ is our wisdom (as well as our righteousness and sanctification – 1 Corinthians 1:30). His people are called out from the world and they make up His church. Yet it is possible for His people to squander their spiritual riches through companionship with the harlot church system. What should be used to directly build up the body of Christ (our time, gifts, talents) is squandered on feeding the prostitute instead (empty traditions, salaries, religious brand name, etc).

True saints must see or experience (in some measure) the loveliness of Christs presence when His saints are in real fellowship with each other. Experiencing the pure love of Christ manifested in His people reveals the paid services of the harlot to be all the more repulsive.

“He who loves wisdom makes his father glad”

Reblogged from Witnessing Encouragement:

Jesus heard that they had put him out, and finding him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered, “Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?” Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him, and He is the one who is talking with you.” And he said, “Lord, I believe.” And he worshiped Him.

How’s this for a conspiracy

How’s this for a conspiracy

Infowars is making fearful merchandise of Gods people, causing anxiety in them, leading them astray from matters of the heart into all manners of foolishness (with some truth mixed in), and this is slowly choking the life of Christ out of them as they are caught up in distractions that only have an outward form of godliness.

This post at infowars on the boston bombing ends in the words “Anyone who believes the official story on all this is a fool.” (of course those words are shadowed by all of the advertisements for gold, survival kits, etc).

Let’s contrast that to those who Jesus refers to as fools.

Luke 12:16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.” And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on.

Though admittedly a sightly different context, in the most basic sense it seems this man in the parable was all “prepped” up but was not rich towards God. Brethren, I beg you in the name of Jesus to carry your cross and follow hard after him in a heart attitude of love and faith instead of getting distracted by the mostly rhetorical nonsense posted on infowars. I am not saying that there isn’t a place to be wise of the devices of the enemy or to take practical preparations for the days ahead, but consider what a fool you will be found on the day of judgment if your barns are full of survival rations and conspiracy theories but you are not found rich towards God.

Infowars is like an automated seeding machine that sows the thorns of life into peoples hearts. The greatest conspiracy in this whole story is God’s people spending their time chasing the latest conspiracy theories instead of chasing after His very heart. Lord help us to stay on track and run our race in Jesus name.

Submitted lovingly for His glory and for your edification,

Jim

False respect

Reblogged from Ian Vincent:

Some young people who ask me about Matthew 23 seem to think that if you call an Elder as brother then that will be less respectful than calling him Pastor or Reverend. This wisdom does not come from Jesus, it is from the world.

So if a brother exalts himself then you will respect him, but if a brother refuses to exalt himself then you won't respect him?

True elders

My comment from Witnessing encouragement blog

True elders build up the younger saints by their continual way of life they live openly before them. True elders teach things in the context of real relationships in real life with real saints (though also at a larger weekly meeting too). True elders are simple saints who are mature and tested. If they start to exalt themselves above the body, put on religious garbs, use a religious title, or dominate the meetings week in and out we can safely conclude they are not mature and are not to be recognized as elders. Worse yet we may find that they are not even true brethren.

Luke 20:45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples, Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts; Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost

Romans 5 – And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

This has been the theme of our conversation tonight and it’s enough to set my soul at perfect peace to think on what the Lord has done for me. I was a wicked sinner, without strength, without hope, and without God. Now the love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost. It is no wonder angels long to look into this great salvation we have in our Lord Jesus Christ. I’ve briefly entertained the idea of some angel thinking “wow, satan was kicked out of heaven for his rebellion and reserved for the lake of fire but the Lord of glory shed his blood for that low life kid in Detroit?”.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us….And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

I want this truth soaked into every part of my life and thoughts that I would not slip into the flesh but always walk in the Spirit pleasing Him with joy that the world does not give and can not take away either.

Can only come through the gathering together of the Saints as they meet in fellowship in Truth and Spirit. This has been a recurring theme over the past few years in my thoughts and understanding since I have been writing this blog. This has been re-confirmed recently and is a call by the Lord through the Holy Spirit to all who have ears to hear and eyes to see.
