Gay ‘marriage’ and abortion cliff notes (abortion bill, prop 8, etc)

Conservative christendom, full of pride and hypocrisy, was emboldened by her political allies to fight in the flesh for key social issues. She and the world exchanged blows as they battled back and forth. Even with the strength of her evangelicals, catholics, and mormons joining hands together she couldn’t best the world. Now the world rejoices in its alleged victory, erroneously thinking it has defeated Christ and His kingdom, not realizing its triumph was merely over american jesus and his kingdom.

There is no hope in the world or in christendom. The only hope is to keep your eyes on the real Jesus who is seated at the right hand of God the Father and shun the ways of american jesus who is seated at the right hand of worldly political powers. The early followers of Jesus didn’t spend much time trying to legislate holiness in rome or else where. Instead they preached ‘Christ crucified’ with great spiritual authority and power and it pierced the hearts of the most depraved men. If this lost generation (world and christendom) is to escape hell-fire nothing else will do.

1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

So true Jim. On one side of the aisle we have the world who continues to revel in their open display of sin and supposed victory- on the other, the professing Christian world continuing to fight the wrong battle against both the wrong people and wrong enemy. Both camps draw supporters in order to justify and defend their positions which only grant them the benefit of a temporary reprieve of their guilty consciousness’ and the thoughts of judgment that once condemned their actions.

Praise God, that despite what appears to be a failure on the part of those who actually know and have been called by Him, in reality, is no less than the hardening of the unrepentant by God despite their profession and a constant reminder to the real sons and daughters of the coming of His soon return.

Let them all rave and rage all they want. “The steadfast of mind thou wilt keep in perfect peace because he trusts in Thee” (Isaiah 26:3) I’ll trade every intent, promise and hope of men for this promise of God and so would you. Our hope is sure Jim- theirs a fleeting and temporary illusion of their own depraved states.

I’ve got a new “friend” on FB who is always “threatening” Christians that they must not support the military. He’s basically saying that if you are not against the military then you are against God.

And the rednecks say support the military and you support God.

So he’s only giving two options, you either support the military and be against God, or be against the military and be for God.

But such logic doesn’t come from God.

But he’s overlooking the third option, that you neither support or oppose the military. That you be neutral in relation to the secular world.

Like in regard to the President, believers don’t need to support or oppose, they can be neutral.

And you can pray for leaders, it doesn’t mean you support them or agree with them.

Some scriptural principals and a personal conviction to go along with what Ian said..

God instituted government, including military and law enforcement. These are things to do with law and order in the kingdoms of the world. In a sense I think it is good for an unsaved person to serve in that capacity if it is restraining evil on the earth, it is the best they can do being under the law. For me, as someone who deserved to be killed as a criminal before being saved, I don’t think it is wise for me to execute that justice after receiving mercy (Matthew 18:32).

So I would never oppose military in general or support it, but do recognize that it is instituted by God for a purpose. The one thing I would speak out against is believers joining the US military and dropping bombs on middle east villages, killing women and children as collateral damage. That is extreme, but not that extreme and it has happened multiple times in the past decade.

I have heard decent arguments of believers joining the military to restrain evil (though my conscience doesn’t allow that) but the situation in the US is so corrupt I think it is unwise to even think that way. I think a lot of believers join under the notion that the US is like OT Israel.

    In Christ -Jim

Romans 13:5 Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience. For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing. Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

    Good thoughts bro.

For me, it’s quite amazing to see the sovereignty of God over the heathen nations, how He caused them to have civil authorities to maintain some kind of civilized life, and this all for the benefit of His scattered people in the world “so we may life peaceably”.

If God’s sovereign hand over civil government was lifted then anarchy would break out. Civil law only means anything if there is the power to enforce it.
