A fire shall always be burning on the altar

Posted: July 1, 2013 in christian living, ecclesia, Jesus

And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it; and he shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out. ~Leviticus 6:12 NKJV

Thus should the fire of our holy affections, the exercise of our faith and love, of prayer and praise, be without ceasing. (Matthew Henry concise commentary)

Amen, really encouraging. There is a fire burning in our hearts, eh, of which our Lord said we are either hot, lukewarm or cold (Rev. 3)..

  2. ian vincent says:

Years ago i had this revelation that we are something like a pot of water and Jesus is the fire. The pot of water doesn’t have the power of itself to make itself hot but it must get hot if it is in contact with the fire, and if its away from the fire it will get cold. I like that. If my love becomes lukewarm i just gotta spend some time near the fire, and like the post says, the fire on the altar should never go out.

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

      Luke 24:32 NKJV
