Love and good works

Their condemnation is written on their bank books and in the dust on their Bible covers, American believers have sold their lives to the service of Mammon, and God has His rightful way of dealing with those who succumb to the spirit of Laodicea. -Jim Elliot

Those whimpering Stateside young people will wake up on the Day of Judgment condemned to worse fates than these demon-fearing Indians, because, having a Bible, they were bored with it—while these never heard of such a thing as writing. -Jim Elliot

It’s funny how being born and raised in christian disney land can leave us so apathetic and living in a confused unreality.  One practical guard to this is to surround yourself with other believers who are serious about the kingdom and who can spur you on to love and good works.  For a true believer love and good works are what we truly desire in the spirit (and that which the flesh opposes).  Thankful for brethren who spur me on.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews 10:24-25
