Ask RC: Is it permissible to hold a communion service without an ordained minister being present to administer the sacrament?

Answer: Probably not…

It is very common to find such roman catholic teachings being taught by ‘reformed’ preachers!  Just two weeks ago one of the elder brothers at our meeting mentioned that we should feel free to celebrate the Lords supper in our homes, in our meetings with other believers, etc and not just on Sundays at our larger gathering.

You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children,  that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory. -1 Thessalonians 2 NKJV

True elders point younger saints to walk worthy of Christ and be focused on God’s kingdom and glory.  Hirelings, nicolatians, personal kingdom builders, and those in bondage to the roman catholic spirit (even if they call themselves protestants) point to their hierarchy, their doctrine, their kingdoms, their glory.  Paul wants to steer the saints to God’s kingdom and glory and only references himself when it serves that end.  He does not want to control men so that they can’t celebrate the Lord’s supper without him or an elder present.  In fact, he warns about men who want to control others like that, who cause divisions, who don’t follow the patter of the apostles.  He tells us to mark and avoid such people.

    I hadn’t been attending their group assemblies and was worshiping and having communion at home by myself most every day.I guess that would be against someones rules. But one day the Lord spoke to me and said, simply, “I can even multiply a little soup cracker”.

    I think I may head for the kitchen right now and get out a saltine and some grape juice.

    Grace and peace,

      I know your situation is a tough one dear sister. We are (Lord willing) going to be heading out west late fall. Please email me as my family would love to meet you face to face.

        You have no idea my dear brother! But I would be delighted to meet you and your family. I will write as soon as this round of smoke clears.
        Love in Jesus,

    “As often as you do this, do it in memory of Me.”

    Sounds to me like He wanted us to eat Spiritual Food as often as we eat physical food, remembering Him as often as we remember to open and close the refrigerator door!

    A verse that helps me greatly daily includes these words, “…take every thought captive…”

    2 Corinthians 10:5King James Version (KJV)

    5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
