Brother Seymour was recognized as the nominal leader in charge. But we had no pope or hierarchy. We were “brethren.” We had no human program. The Lord Himself was leading. We had no priest class, nor priest craft. These things have come in later, with the apostatizing of the movement. We did not even have a platform or pulpit in the beginning. All were on a level. The ministers were servants, according to the true meaning of the word.

– Frank Bartleman on Azusa Street revival

Many are having difficulties in their marriages and with their children because they are suffering the consequences of their decision to steal from God. When we give our tithes and offerings to Him, we give Him what He is due. A person who tithes says to God, “I am dependent on You. I am putting my faith in You to help me govern my affairs.

taken from An official AOG website

The AOG misuse of Malachi to teach that their members who don’t tithe are cursed is at the root of many perverse teachings such as I quoted above. This also feeds the sick delusions that the hirelings in the pulpits are some type of OT priest while those in the pews are lesser laity. The sad reality is that those who financially support and rejoice in such false teachings coming from man made religious institutions are cursed under the law and are being deceived into building the religious kingdoms of men. It is time to abandon the harlot AOG who reduces her victims to a spiritual piece of bread and start feasting at the table with King Jesus.

I do not write this to condemn anyone who this currently describes (though sadly most do not realize that this describes them), but as one freed from captivity to AOG I urge any true brethren who are sitting in their pews with a sort of Stockholm Syndrome to flee from Babylon. Like the religious jews of the first century had to make a radical choice to repent and follow Christ so do you dear friends. Do not fancy yourself as being an on fire Christian and be fooled by the “bigness” of the AOG, but rather humble yourself as one who must repent of an entire religious life built on a lies and traditions. Jesus calls you to forsake your religious life and follow Him outside the camp.

I want to address one more delusion taught in the AOG, that is that their denomination is the result of the Azusa Street revival. I want to make it very clear that the denomination is not what was birthed in the revival, it is the resulting product of having fallen away from it. According to Frank Bartleman, who reported the Azusa Street revival, AOG is:

1) Not a true pentecostal church
2) An advertisement of failure
3) Something God’s people must be freed from
4) An Ishmael of the flesh

The Lord said: “That is what I told you.” They had done it. Surely a “party spirit” cannot be “Pentecostal.” There can be no divisions in a true Pentecost. To formulate a separate body is but to advertise our failure, as a people of God…

The church is an organism not a human organization. They later tried to pull the work on the whole coast into this organization, but miserably failed…

God’s people must be free from hierarchism. They are “blood-bought,” and not their own. An earlier work in Texas, later tried to gather in the Pentecostal missions on the Pacific Coast, and Los Angeles, but also failed. Why should they claim authority over us? We had prayed down our own revival. The revival in California was unique and separate as to origin. It came from Heaven, even Brother Seymour not receiving the “baptism” until many others had entered in here. He did not arrive in Los Angeles until the “eleventh hour.” The great battle from the beginning, both in Los Angeles and elsewhere, has been the conflict between the “flesh” and the Spirit, between Ishmael and Isaac.

-Frank Bartleman

The end result of everything Bartleman warned about is the AOG denomination. Praying all true believers be freed from it by the truth of Christ’s words and the apostles. For by means of a harlot a man is reduced to a crust of bread -Proverbs 6:26

A revival almost always begins among the laity. The ecclesiastical leaders seldom welcome reformation. History repeats itself. The present leaders are too comfortably situated as a rule to desire innovation that might require sacrifice on their part. And God’s fire only falls on sacrifice. An empty altar receives no fire. Cold intellectualism, formal ecclesiasticism, and priestly domination are altogether outside the genius of the Gospel.” ~Frank Bartleman; “The Azusa Street Revival

What if every AOG member who truly loved Jesus left the system?

What if they started to meet on the level ground of the Gospel as brothers and sisters in Christ?

What if they left the denominations buildings to meet and pray in homes, little store fronts in the city, a barn out in the country?

What if they left the corrupt religious system built on the commandments of men and instead committed themselves more soberly to the instructions of the apostles and our Lord?

What if AOG members came to realize that they are currently “altogether outside the genius of the Gospel” according to one of their early pioneers said above?

What if there were no titles, no clergy, no laity, no tithe raps, no generosity action plans, just a many membered body willing to go outside the religious camp and bare the reproach of Christ?

What would happen?

Maybe something like Azusu street.

Its heads give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money; yet they lean on the LORD and say, “Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No disaster shall come upon us.” Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house a wooded height. – Micah 3:11

I wanted to follow up on my last post about fleeing the AOG and give some simple examples of how the great religious corporation is fleecing their membership.  I also wanted to offer clear evidence that the denomination practices divination (spiritual manipulation) for money.  If you attend AOG please do not think I am writing this to come against you.  I personally wasted countless years and countless dollars there and I was really committed.  I urge you to consider the possibility that you may be a patsy in a religious scam and Jesus is calling you to humble yourself and flee from among it. For those that don’t know, AOG has its own financial division, sort of like what GMAC financial is to General Motors.  Let’s look at a couple of the fine products AOG Financial is currently selling to your pastor.

Resource Your Vision

This first little bit from the AOG website is a clear indicator that you are being used as a tool to build mans kingdom.  In the New Testament all true believers in a geographical area are the building stones that make up the church where the elders lead from among the sheep.  The Church is a living body, made of living stones, that minister to one another.  Contrast that to AOG’s resource your vision plan, that clearly shows you are little more than a dollar sign in the eyes of your pastor so he can fulfill his “God given” vision.

Pastors spend a lot of time worrying about money in relation to their church budget. Oftentimes, they feel alone when it comes to issues of resourcing the ministry. We want to help pastors develop a deeper culture of generosity within their church to support their God-given vision.

Generosity Action Plan

This is really good stuff here (by good I mean bad).  The GAP system.  For $99 a month your pastor can learn step by step techniques to manipulate you into funding the AOG kingdom.  Directly from the AOG website…

This is the way of an adulteress: she eats and wipes her mouth and says, “I have done no wrong.” -Proverbs 30:20

I know there are many true saints in there, my brothers and sisters in Christ, I write this on level ground with you, and not to insult you in any way. Still these examples of their religious manipulation are a sad indicator of what AOG has been reduced to. This is largely a harlot church whose prophets practice divination for money, using worldly methods such as the tithe rap to manipulate the crowds. This is the fruit of the pentecostal work moving away from Gods plan and following their own path. Like a junkie, who ends up living on the streets, they are now desperate to fund their habit of personal kingdom building. Perhaps they should have listened to the word of God that forbids such things… or at least the words of Frank Bartleman.

We had been called out to evangelize Los Angeles, not to build up another sect or party spirit. We needed no more organization nor machinery than what was really necessary for the speedy evangelizing of the city. Surely we had enough separate rival church organizations already on our hands. Each working largely for its own interest, advancement, and glory… -Frank Bartleman

[edit]

I recently came across this unbiblical, shallow, and self serving AOG position paper on tithing AOG Website along with this worship arts production from Grand View AOG –

Micah 1:7 All her carved images shall be beaten to pieces, all her wages shall be burned with fire, and all her idols I will lay waste, for from the fee of a prostitute she gathered them, and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.

This started me thinking on the blatant foolishness and lies being used at AOG to fleece and manipulate their membership and what a contrast to Azusa Street this is. How the faithful woman has become a harlot.  Although Jesus saved me from this harlot church many years ago (I used to be the AOG guy that put the words up on the projection screen), my heart is burdened over true brethren remaining in that system and long to see them be set free from their religious traditions and strongholds by the power of Jesus.  Consider this warning given by Frank Bartleman, a key figure in the Azusa Street revival, in light of the disgraceful practices in so many AOG churches today as it sinks deeper into foolishness and apostasy.

Micah 2:6 “Do not preach”–thus they preach– “one should not preach of such things; disgrace will not overtake us.”

The truth must be told. “Azusa” began to fail the Lord also, early in her history. God showed me one day that they were going to organize, though not a word had been said in my hearing about it. The Spirit revealed it to me. He had me get up and warn them against making a “party” spirit of the Pentecostal work. The “baptized” saints were to remain “one body,” even as they had been called, and to be free as His Spirit was free, not “entangled again in a yoke of (ecclesiastical) bondage.” The New Testament Church saints had already arrested the further progress in this way. God wanted a revival company, a channel through whom He could evangelize the world, blessing all people and believers. He could naturally not accomplish this with a sectarian party. The spirit has been the curse and death of every revival body sooner or later. History repeats itself in this matter. Sure enough the very next day after I dropped this warning in the meeting I found a sign outside “Azusa” reading “Apostolic Faith Mission.” The Lord said: “That is what I told you.” They had done it. – Frank Bartleman on the Azusa Revival

Micah 2:10 Arise and go, for this is no place to rest, because of uncleanness that destroys with a grievous destruction. If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!

I am in no way attempting to lay out a thorough case against the denomination any more than the angel who cried out “flee from Babylon, run for your lives” set out to argue its case in fine points.  I just feel the need to state my burden over this as we are in a life and death struggle for souls and truth in these last days.   AOG is a harlot church who labors for a harlots pay through sickening manipulative and unbiblical practices.  I have witnessed much of this first hand in my days of captivity there.   One day God Himself will put an end to this.  All of the man made religious monuments built to self will be brought to ruin. The numbers, statistics, and boasting will be worthless.

Micah 3:11 Its heads give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money; yet they lean on the LORD and say, “Is not the LORD in the midst of us? No disaster shall come upon us.” Therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed as a field; Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins, and the mountain of the house a wooded height.

Azusa Street is for every true believer in Jesus, but how it is in direct contrast to modern day AOG. Frank Bartleman knew this and warned against it but true believers caught up in it have a form of Stockholm syndrome – where the kidnapped begin to identify with their captors.  The religious bondage, clergy-laity system, fleecing the flock, worldliness, and deception (false spirits, prosperity doctrines, lying signs and wonders) in AOG should not be treated lightly.  A big impressive lie with a lot of money flowing to make it appear legitimate is still a lie.

What an incredible feeling it is to be delivered from it and be able to see it for what it is! Do not be careless with your soul my AOG friends, bad company corrupts good character.  I know there are 7000 left in there that have not bowed their knees to Baal but why carry on in the harlot, why not seek your own Azusa street?  These days are evil and we are in the midst of a great falling away. Do not be like the foolish man of Proverbs 7 who was seduced by the harlot at the twighlight, at the end of the age and on the verge of eternity. Why should you be fleeced 10% by this harlot one more day? Spend yourself for Jesus 100% instead to build His kingdom, the way Bartleman would have had it.  Do not believe the lies designed to keep you in subjection and paying into the system to keep your captors prosperous.  Flee from Babylon, run for your lives, and do not be destroyed for her sins. [edit]

Proverbs 14:15 The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps. One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless.
